Systems of Work - Module P – First Aid Part One

Module A – Drivers’ Hours and Tachographs
The aim of this course is to enable HGV drivers to understand and think about how legislation on drivers’ hours and working time affects them. How to use digital and analogue tachographs.
Module B – Vulnerable Road Users
This course will inform you, the professional driver of HGV’s, on how to identify the different types of vulnerable road users. We will aim to arm you with the tools to change the perception and attitude towards this group of users.
Module C – Vehicle Legal Requirements
The aim of this module is to review the requirements on the operator’s licence, to review the weight limits regarding different vehicle types. Discuss and review Speed limits, what role the DVSA play and finally to go through the vehicle check process and how to report defects.
Module D – Driver Legal Requirements
This module focusses on improving the drivers understanding of their legal requirements. Following this course delegates will be able to explain what vehicles they can/cannot drive, explain the basic driving test procedure, when they need to notify the DVLA of changes and what actions to take in the event of an accident.
Module E – Eco & Safe Driving
During this module delegates will be instructed on how to improve their fuel consumption, how to recognise developing hazards and describe what actions to take. Delegates will be able to recognise areas where concentration may drop and how to manage the space on the road and adopt a professional attitude.
Module F – Smart Motorways
The aim of this course is to inform you what a SMART motorway is and how to identify the different types. The course will enable you to understand the role of Highways England and provide you with the tools to evaluate your road risk on SMART motorways.
Module G – Load Safety
During this course, drivers will be instructed in the different types of loads and different methods of securing loads, which should then enable the driver to be more informed when strapping and securing loads.
Module H – Working with Others
The objective of this module is to explain the competitive nature of the driver market, what the internal and external customer expectations are and the different methods of communication. Delegates will also be able to recognise the importance of equality and diversity.
Module I – Driver Wellbeing
On this module Drivers will be able to recognise whether they are fit to drive or not, what constitutes a balanced diet and how to recognise signs of fatigue and Sleep Apnoea. The module will also enable you to have a better understanding of how to manage stress and explain what ‘being in control’ is.
Module J – Drivers’ Mental Health
This module focusses on describing what is Mental health, identifying the different types of mental health, and how to manage Mental Health. How to raise the awareness of mental health and promote a positive attitude in the transport industry and encourage a healthy, tolerant working environment.
Module K – Safe Guarding
The objective of this module will enable you to identify what is meant by child abuse and keeping children safe. It will focus on the different types, the signs and indicators of abuse and neglect. The course will enable you with the knowledge to be able to respond to the concerns, and know what the process for reporting your concerns, and who to report them to.
Module L – Risk Assessment
This module is focussed on how to assess risk, hazards and what methods can be utilised to control and manage risk.
Expert Logistics Safe Systems of Work
This module is aimed at reviewing safe working practices and enabling you the driver to work safely on our customers sites. Following the guidance and protocols that will provide you with the tools to carry out your duties in a safe manner.
Module P – First Aid Part One
Part one of the First Aid modules will ensure that you know what First Aid is, what the responsibilities of a First Aider are and how to put someone in the recovery position and carry out CPR.
Module Q – First Aid Part Two
Part Two of the First Aid modules focusses on Shock, Burns, Seizures and Other Issues. It will enable you to identify the different types of Shock, Burns and Seizures and what to do. The course will also review topics such as Allergic reactions, Asthma attacks, Diabetic emergencies, Heart Attacks and Strokes.
